George Henry Jones was born 28 October 1854 in Raccoon, Galia, Ohio to Alfred Washington Jones and Elizabeth Ellen Neal. Alfred was 26 and his mother Elizabeth was 24 year old.
He was #2 of six children.
#1 Harriet Jane Jones
#2 George Henry Jones
#3 James Alfred Jones
#4 Anna Elizabeth Jones
#5 Charles McClellan Jones
#6 Homer Sherman Jones
The family moved around bit while George was young. 1860 found in Raccoon, Galia, Ohio. 1865 moved to Eminence, Woodson, Kansas (according to Father Alfred's obituary). By 1866 the family is found in Neodesha, Wilson, Kansas. 1870 the family is in Cedar, Wilson, Kansas and 1875 in Neodesha, Wilson, Kansas.
George married Mary Emaline White on 4 December 1876, in Wilson County. He was 22 years old and Mary was 17.
Elizabeth Etta Jones with her mother Mary Emaline White |
Mary Emaline White was born 14 April 1859 in Steuben, Warren, Indiana to James White and Caroline Sheldon. Her father was 38 and mother was 33 years old.
She was #6 of seven children.

(I have no death dates for anyone other than Mary)
In 1860 the family is living in Steuben, Warren, Indiana (the family is also found on the 1850 census in Steuben, Warren, Indiana. This is most likely where Mary was born). The family moved to Wilson County, Kansas before April 1870 when Mary's mother, Caroline died.
Mary probably was raised for a bit by her older siblings. Her mother died when she was 11 and her father when she was 12.
George and Mary had 9 children.
#1 Charles A Jones b. 1 August 1877 in Neodesha, Wilson, Kansas (died age 18 in 1895)
#2 Alfred Jones b. 25 December 1878 in Neodesha, Wilson, Kansas

George and Mary had a rocky marriage.
They were first married on 4 December 1876 in either Wilson County, Kansas.
They were married a second time on 20 September 1900 in Fredonia, Wilson, Kansas.
And married a third time on 4 August 1908 in Independence, Montgomery, Kansas
They didn't remain married though. Mary married a Mr. E. W. Baldwin sometime after 1915 (she in on the 1915 Kansas State Census with George listed as her husband.
Mary lived for 3 years in Seymore, Iowa from 1920 to 1923. I cannot find Mary on the 1920 Census. I believe during this time she was with her new husband, E. W. Baldwin (or W.E. Baldwin). She returned to Neodesha about 3 months prior to her death.
She died of "leakage of the heart" on 5 May 1923 in Neodesha, Wilson, Kansas. Her obituary states:
The Neodesha [Kansas] Register; Wednesday, May 10, 1923; Pages 1 [Funeral Notice] and 8 [Obituary].
Wife of E.W. (or W.E.) Baldwin (First husband: George H. Jones)
Funeral held from the home at 510 Wisconsin Street in Neodesha on Sunday, May 7, 1923 with the Rev. G. Alfred Brown of the Christian Church conducting the services.
She died of "leakage of the heart" at the age of 63.
She lived in Neodesha for many years, with the exception of the last three of her life where she lived in Seymour, Iowa. She returned to Neodesha about 3 months prior to her death.
Survived by 7 children: Enos Jones, Clarence Jones, Everett Jones and Mrs. Ralph McCarty -- all of Neodesha and vicinity. Mrs. J.V. Reynolds, Dun Station; Alfred Jones, Marysville, Mo. and Ernest Jones of Forder, Colo.
Her obituary (on both pages) states that she is buried in the Neodesha Cemetery, but the official index to the cemetery does not list her. Either as "Baldwin" or "Jones". Her death certificate also lists Neodesha Cemetery as the burial location.
I have no clue who Mr. Baldwin was. He is not listed on her death certificate.
