John Isiah Reynolds & Mary Popper

John Isiah Reynolds was born 15 June 1804 in Virginia.  (Anyone have an idea to which county?)
Father is Ezra Reynolds b. 1780 in the United States.  I have not found anything that lists Ezra as his father nor have I found an Ezra Reynolds.  Some places (trees on ancestry.com) lists that Ezra was born in Germany.  I'd love to find some actual proof for this.

He married Mary Popper (last name I have not proven yet) about 1831 in Virginia.

I have record of 6 children being born.
1. Mary Ann Reynolds b. 1833 Virginia
2. John Thomas Reynolds b. 1838 Virginia (Our relation)
3. Nancy Reynolds b. 1839 Missouri
4. Lucinda A Reynolds or Lucy A Reynolds b. 1846 Missouri
5. Mary Reynolds b. 1848 Missouri
6. Isiah James Reynolds b. 1849 Missouri

Some interesting things to note:
Between child #1 and child #2 there is a 6 year gap.  This means that Mary most likely lost some children.

Between 1838 and 1839 the family moved west to Missouri.  This is based on where the records state the children were born.

There is a 7 year gap between children #3 and #4.

Child #5 is only found on the 1860 census at 12 year of age. Was this a mistake by the census taker considering that child #1 and #5 have the same name?  Where is she on the 1850 census? Possibly #1 went by her full name, Mary Ann.  There is a possibility that child #6 died young since she is not found on any other census records.

Mary Popper died young on 13 April 1855 in Pettis, Platte, Missouri.  She was 46 year old.

After Mary's death in 1855, John remarried to Susan Madin on 24 June 1855 in Platte County, Missouri.

John and Susan had two children:
1. Susan Reynolds b. 1856 Missouri
2. Henry Reynolds b. 1858 Missouri

John died on 7 August 1860 in Parkville, Platte, Missouri at the age of 56.

His death caused some problems in the family.  According to his probate, his oldest daughter, Mary Ann Reynolds (married name Pouppirt) sued John's widow, Susan, and the other heirs of the estate. His probate lists his possessions as well as the legal battle. I'm not sure of the outcome.

This past week I contacted the Platte County Historical Society.  They said they have found at least two additional children for John and Mary.  Once I have the information I'll post it here.
